Fundraisers 2010/11

Bike ride from John O'Groats to Lands End

Pat having legs waxed!                                          Graham   Pat   Adrian

I am riding from John O'Groats to Lands End with two other friends in July this year.   We aim to cover the approx. 1000 miles in 12 days.

I intend raising money for facial cancer charities and those charities offering services to bereaved children.  My sister died in 1989 age 42 following a battle with facial cancer.  Margaret left two children.

I was horrified by what the cancer did to Margaret and also by what she had to endure with a good portion of her face and mouth missing.

Sunday 24th July 2011...  Day One!

We finished our first day today.  JUST BRILLIANT.  Had       one big hill .. Thinking of Magaret got me up it .

The photo is of me after 50 miles and the hill!

95 miles tomorrow with a very big hill.

Pat....

Thursday 28th July 2011...  Day Four!

Heard from Pat today, he is very tired and has a terrible sore throat and temperature.... Get well soon Pat!

Thursday 4th August... Last Day!

Hi Christine, Julia

The last day today!  It's grey and raining .. But not in our hearts.  53 miles left.  We have so far cycled 907 miles .. Climbed the equivalent of 38000 feet and burned a 46000 calories.
I've almost reached my target of £1000 on JustGiving …. I wish it could have been more for you guys. I have another £82 to donate …… once I get to the £1000 then my company will donate £200 .. So hopefully I will have raised about £1300 for you.

Best wishes

Pat

WELL DONE...!

Newcastle Group sponsored walk

We recently did a sponsored walk to raise funds for the group.  We did the walk in conjunction with Maggie's, they are raising money to build a centre here later this year, we intend to meet there once the building is up and running.  24 people took part, including patients, carers, family and friends.

A well earned cuppa...
