Suffer with thick mucus?

Effects of cancer treatments and medications can cause thick saliva or mucus production in the throat or mouth areas.  This can interfere with eating, sleeping and social activities.  Some helpful remedies to reduce mucus are listed below:

Drinking ample fluids throughout the day and eating moist foods can help thin out mucus

Moisten foods with gravy, sauce, broth, or butter

Avoid caffeine and alcohol

Enzymes in some  tropical juices help to thin saliva, such as pineapple juice

Ask your chemist about mouthwashes,  pastilles and gels  that can also help

You may be entitled to free prescriptions so talk to your GP about remedies

Short Cuts...

If you can't be bothered to make soup yet want something of that consistency, just put whatever you fancy as a sandwich etc., into the blender and add a "made-up cuppa soup", whiz until smooth, heat in pan or microwave.  Makes a 'proper' lunch without having to chew! You can add, salmon, tuna, avocado - anything that's not too fibrous.

Eye Pad Problems...

Finding it difficult to get larger eye pads?  Waitrose supermarkets do larger size pads under their 'baby' range.  They are called "Baby Maxi Pads" There is approx 50 pads to a pack and they are reasonably priced.

Just a tip for those of you who have to buy your own dressings and find it hard to find larger pads...
